The Baumgarten Solar Project consists of a 366 kW mounted vertical PV array and a storage facility of 2.5 MW/3 MWh.

A Swiss consortium has ordered an vertical PV-plus storage plant mounted on the ground on an area of approximately 6,000 m2 in the municipality of Kaltbrunn, in the St. Gallen canton in Switzerland.

The consortium is formed by the Swiss timber company W. Rüegg AG, PV Consultancy Zenna AG and solar installer Helion Energy AG.

The PV system has an installed capacity of 366 kW and a battery storage capacity of 2.5 MW/3 MWh. The foundations of the screw were supplied by the German mounting system provider K2 and the inverters were supplied by SMA zonnet technology based in Germany. The batteries are from Catl Enerone in China.

The company that owns the country on which the project is located, W. Rüegg, explains that the facility is fully removable, so that the country can be used later for other purposes, such as agriculture. It is located on the industrial site of Baumgarten in the Fischhausen Industrial Center, which is undeveloped and is planned as a country for long -term business development.

“We have had two suddenly on the outskirts of the village for quite some time,” the company said in a statement. “Because one of the two suddenly was planned as a possible expansion of our company, but due to the long planning phases this would not be possible for another 15 years, we thought of how this country could be used in an intermediate manner. The photovoltaic planting project mounted on the ground is therefore a perfectly intermediate use. “

The stored energy is currently being sold on the regulated market in Switzerland as part of the portfolio of the producer and distributor CKW, part of the AXPO group. When the company’s expansion project is built on the adjacent site, the energy will be used to deliver the company itself.

From the start, the developers of W. Rüegg AG have placed a great emphasis on a visually attractive construction, where optimum integration in the existing industrial environment plays an important role. As a result, the height of the photovoltaic system was kept as low as possible.

To prevent unnecessary sparkle, the solar panels are oriented to the south, have an anti-glare glass surface and are equipped with anti-glare edges. The entire system will be surrounded by a visually integrated fence.
