South Korea’s largest battery comes online – SPE

Korean utility KEPCO completed a 978 MW battery project that we billed as Asia’s largest battery energy storage system for grid stabilization purposes.

South Korean utility Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has officially completed construction work on a major battery energy storage project in Miryang City, Gyeongsangnam-do Province.

Billed as Asia’s largest battery energy storage system for grid stabilization purposes, the system has a power of 978 MW and a storage capacity of 889 MWh.

The ceremony to mark the completion of construction took place on Thursday, September 27, at the 154 kV Bubuk substation in Miryang.
