Voltfang opens a second life battery plant in Germany, invoiced as Europe’s largest PV Magazine International

Voltfang has opened what it claims is the largest battery storage factory in the second life in West Germany, with 250 MWh annual capacity expected in 2026 and a target of 1 GWh before 2031.

Voltfang has officially opened its ‘future FAB’ production site in Aachen, Germany. The factory will produce second-life battery storage systems for industrial, commercial and large-scale applications.

The company said that the annual production capacity will reach 250 MWh next year and rises to 1 GWh before 2031.

It claimed that the Fab-op de Triwo Technopark Aachen, at the former production location of electric car manufacturer Next E-Go-the largest production facility in Europe is for battery storage systems for second life. Business production started in April.
