The major transformer failure at the Waratah Super Battery is still causing unrest across the industries more than a week later, and lingering questions about the exact causes remain unanswered for now.

The role of the New South Wales state government and Australia’s energy regulator in the procurement and supply of the Waratah Super Battery could mean investigations into the transformer failure are made public and provide useful and detailed information to parse.

For now, the issue remains fairly clear for owner Akaysha Energy: it is believed that one unit of 350 MVA will be very badly affected given the “catastrophic failure‘ mentioned by the company, while the second de-energized transformer requires inspection and remains unknown for now.
