The Netherlands-based with Thegrid, a provider for Energy Asset’s technology, has extended the functionality of its Teleportgateway, originally launched in 2023, to better support owners of energy assets and energy traders to control and manage energy assets in real time.

The hardware is a stand-standing real-time controller interface that now supports more than 450 types of assets for renewable energy that go beyond Solar PV-Omsorers, including wind turbines, small and large-scale batteries, EV charging stations and meters.

It allows assets owners, energy traders and grid operators to get real-time data on asset performance and availability, and to remotely check the generation and remote charging.

It has functions, such as Solar Irradiance Power Limiter, Power Quality Metrics and Virtual Power Plant Support. According to the company, Teleport can be “particularly useful” in the case of multi-assets on site, such as PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (Bess) where it is used to optimize behind the meter. Control strategies include peaks with batteries and guaranteeing the contracted grid connections.

It also has integrations or application programming interfaces (API), analysis of the energy industry and monitoring platforms, such as Accure, SynaptiQ, as well as its own solution for monitoring the energy quality.

The technology is said to be used by Dutch companies, such as Eneco, Essent, Novar and Sweden, established Vattenfall, to control energy assets, such as PV-Omwers, wind turbines and batteries in a “scalable and safe way”.

Further possibilities are planned in response to the “evolving geopolitical landscape”, according to the company, such as extensive asset biblioths and reinforced secure data management, as well as support for standards that are relevant to other European markets.

“We are already present in different countries, but we are currently expanding to Belgium and Greece,” said Paul Mignot, with Thegrid CEO, said PV Magazine.

To support his business goals, Thegrid recently raised € 3.5 million ($ 3.8 million) in financing. The venture capital section was € 2 million from the Amsterdam Energy, based in Amsterdam, while the € 1.5 million debt financing was provided by Rabobank and National Groenfonds.

“This financing helps us to speed up the development of our Teleportgateway, aimed at two critical challenges in the renewable energy sector,” Mignot explained. “First, as more distribution system operators (DSO) throughout Europe, direct control over new connections is required, our safe, independent controller is designed to meet these evolving requirements.”

He said that another need that tackles it is when Solar and Bess Co location are behind a single schedule connection to offer protection and to optimize the grid connection. “The Teleportgateway does both, making it easier for our customers to use their renewable energy systems and improve the integration of the grid,” said Mignot.

The company also offers grid operators an assets -monitoring platform as a managed service, for example to monitor the energy quality and error detection.
